Graduating June 2015. Applying for Fall 2015
Invitations to be a Global Scholar to represent Colombia at the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC), in summer of 2013.
I was then invited again for summer of 2014. I was nominated by the English Department of my school.
ACADEMICS
Here you will find information about my academic awards and participation in the school government.

Invitation to the National Student Leadership Conference.

I have been on the Honor Roll at the Colegio Colombo Británico 8 times in a row so far. Here are my certificates:
Note: certificates are not given for the third period/trimester. For this reason, I requested the evidence of my ranking for the third periods (the tables).
PREFECT
The student government at my school concists of the following:
-Head Boy & Head Girl
-"Personero" (serves basically as a lawyer for students)
-Prefects
-Student Council members
The prefects are in charge of:
-
Organizing and coordinating the students from grade 12. They are meant to make sure the Senior Year is fulfilling and enjoyable.
-
They are directly involved in the creation of the Yearbook and the publicity related to it.
-
Coordinate activities with other schools, from the same city or different cities. This includes sports activities like the Friendship Cup and the exchange tournament with the Anglo Colombiano in Bogotá (see sports section for more information about these events).
-
Coordinate activities and days like "Poppy Day" that conmemorate the soldiers who died in World War I. This also includes all type of fundraising to benefit foundations, workers or for the Senior Funds.
Basically, they coordiante a diverse amount of activities that benefit the Seniors and the lower grades. They have to know how to manage their time because it is a time consuming position.
The selection of the prefects was very rigorous. The group consists of 3 girls and 3 boys. At the end of our Junior year, we were told to sign up for Prefects if we thought we had the proper conditions to be selected. Approximately 25 out of 79 people signed up. Once we returned to school after summer and entered our senior year, the teachers had reduced the list to approximately 20 people, based on their reputation, commitment to school and grades. There were 15 girls and 5 boys on the list. The IB coordinator and the MYP coordinator then created a voting system, where all 12th graders were asked to choose one boy and one girl. Based on these results, more people were taken out of the list, leaving 4 boys and 13 girls. Next, we were interviewed by the IB coordinator and the MYP coordinator in order for them to know why we felt we were the right ones for the position. Afterwards, they selected 3 boys and 3 girls (including me). I am very proud and honored to hold this position and have greatly enjoyed it. It requires leadership, organization, commitment and responsibility.
Last First Day of School
It was a bittersweet experience to have my "last first day" of school. I have loved my time at school and I am greatful for everything I have learned. Most of my friends intend on studying in Colombia, meaning I am virtually the only one leaving and I will miss them a lot. However, I love change and new experiences so I am really looking forward to leaving, starting college and meeting new people.
